UPDATE
We ran this callout in spring and we were thrilled with the responses!
Now we have 2 more tickets to give away.
Funnily enough, given our festival has ‘green’ in the title, most of the nominations we received previously were for environmental activists. And we’re not complaining! However, we are keen to highlight more of the work being done in challenging social injustice too.
Do you know someone incredible who’s fighting racism or other discrimination?
So if you do know someone, please let us know – we’d love to give two more free tickets to our festival to say thank you for doing this work. Message us on social media or email news@greengathering.org.uk.
You can find out more why we’re doing this and how to nominate someone below.
We’ll be accepting nominations until 18 June, then we’ll pick two names at random from a hat (because choosing would be impossible!).
This year at The Green Gathering we’re offering something completely unique.
Along with hosting a solar powered off-grid festival as part of our mission to inspire low-impact living, political activism has always been at the core of what Green Gathering is about (you can learn more about our incredible backstory here). Because true sustainability goes beyond ‘being green’ – it’s about fixing injustices and inequalities locally and globally too.
Seeing those willing to take action stand up and put their energy, bodies and freedom on the line has been a rare positive story in these times of climate and democratic crisis. From the awe-inspiring youth movement to protesters with decades of experience who’ve never quite put down their picket signs, many thousands are rising to demand change.
To recognise this activism and the critical importance of engaging with the swelling climate and social justice movement, this year we’re offering 20 free tickets to 20 remarkable people, to highlight and say thank you to those who have been willing to stand up for the least powerful or privileged among us.
And we want to hear from you.
If you know someone, UK-based, who’s been out there fighting to support a cause, from the climate emergency to LGBTQIA+ rights and everything in between, nominate them to receive a ticket. You can do this any time up to March 14th by messaging us on social media or emailing news@greengathering.org.uk. In your message, tell us
This free ticket will be exactly that – a thank you for the energy the activists have put into their climate justice or social action, with no other strings attached. But we’ll give these people the opportunity to come together at the festival in an informal event – so they can meet others doing what they’re doing too.
*Once nominees have been verified and contacted for consent, 20 names will be picked at random from a hat – because there’s no way we could compare or judge the amazing activities of those standing up for what’s right and for all our futures.
