GG WINS INTERNATIONAL GREENER POWER AWARD FOR THE FIFTH YEAR!

February 27, 2025

Green Gathering sent delegates to London this week, all tumbling off trains in the capital to attend the Green Events and Innovations Conference. After many inspiring talks focused on how to pursue a greener, kinder, fairer world in the face of current world affairs… it was time for light relief and a glass of bubbles at the International Greener Future Awards.

Our festival was shortlisted for 6 awards: Food, Power, Water and Sanitation, Pied Piper, Innovations, and the overall International Festival Award.

And, for the fifth year, we won the International Greener Power Award!

Power is a hot topic in event sustainability, and is also a hotbed for innovation. This international award goes to the event that has most successfully maximised energy efficiency and had the lowest impact on the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.

That’s us at The Green Gathering, with our 100% solar energy!

Director Em Weirdigan took the mic on stage to thank award hosts A Greener Future and Skydiamonds, saying:

“It’s so great to be appreciated for what we do, and that’s not just us stood on stage here but the hundreds of people who work to make the Green Gathering magic. Thank you. We’re not going to put ourselves up for this award next year, so it’ll be exciting to see who rises up to take our place. If anyone wants a go, we’re very happy to share tips on how we’ve won it for the last five years, so get in touch!”

Of course stepping back from the awards doesn’t mean we’ll take our foot off the accelerator. At Green Gathering HQ we’re always working to do things better. Possibilities we’re exploring right now include electric shuttle buses, turning our festival-goers wee into fertiliser, and using mycelium to capture car park pollution.

Watch this space – or better still, come along to the festival - to keep up to date with positive innovations. We all need green shoots to look forwards to right now!
