Expect an exciting close for this year's festival on Sunday evening at Soundscape Solar Stage as The High Breed and friends will be taking over the stage.
The High Breed, a conscious hip hop collective from Bristol, are long time festival favourites, and they'll be bringing rap, reggae, dancehall and a dj set to Soundscape.
"We are so excited to bring this takeover to Green Gathering. The idea arose at the 2022 festival, after we got talking to festival coordinators Ellie and Ben who expressed how they loved our performance and would like us to get more involved. So this year we’ve decided to come back with our friends and musicians we love. Together we’re a diverse range of artists who all have a conscious message in our music. Alternative voices are often under-represented in the festival scene so we're delighted Green Gathering has given us the opportunity to display our gifts and express our unique perspectives." - Keita, The High Breed
Artists in the takeover line-up include:
The High Breed, who create conscious hip hop that breaks down barriers and invites dreams of a better world, merging futuristic lyricism with hypnotic instrumentation to offer something uniquely enriching, with the aim of making a positive social impact through their music.
Guire and the Golden Guild, a Bristol-based Roots Reggae band blending Dub and Dancehall to create their signature sound, filling venues with positive energy - a true joy to witness.
Inspeckta Veg, a rapper, activist, health coach and herbalist who promotes healthy living, balancing the mental and the physical to create a peaceful society and to empower people to live happier, dynamic lives.
Komposa, who has been stacking up tracks in the studio and collaborating with other prominent artists since releasing his EP 'Charging Up'. Combining hard-hitting flows with soulful melodic sounds, his recent singles 'Powers' and 'D.O.H. (Different Over Here)' gained support from BBC Introducing, BBC1Xtra and BBC Bristol.
DJ Fly Fox, the co-founder of Femmes on Decks, an all-female DJ collective. With a playful style, multi-genre attitude and sets full of soul and groove she'll be winding down the Sunday night Soundscape Takeover with some chilled world music to take you into tomorrow.
Ellie, GG Entertainments Co-ordinator, says:
"We’ve been working to ensure better diversity across our line-up. We’re members of the Keychange Pledge for gender equality and have been focusing on LGBTQIA+ representation too. This takeover is one step towards seeing better representation for black and ethnic minority artists. The High Breed are programming an evening of established and emerging talent with meaningful messages, creating a space where more members of our community get to see themselves in the artists on stage. I can’t wait to be part of the audience experiencing this - see you there!"
