The Gaza War: Media Reporting, Public Understanding and the Potential for Activism.

This talk will discuss what information on the Israel-Palestine conflict is available in the mass media and on social media platforms and how that affects public opinion. It will also talk about what opportunities are open to activists to change the public conversation and pressure governments to push policies which support peace and justice.

Dr  Mike Berry is a Reader at Cardiff University School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies. His research interests are focused around the question of how the mass media impacts public knowledge and understanding of social, political and economic issues. Over the last two decades he has published research on a range of issues including the Israel-Palestine conflict, criminal justice policy, austerity, economic  journalism, pandemics and refugee and asylum policy.
